Merry Christmas
... and a happy new year!
“…grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
(Reinhold Niebuhr)
In today’s polarising times, it seems perhaps more important than ever to reflect on the insight behind this famous quote. Even while acknowledging a deep desire to do more to actively help solve the crises that are currently unfolding around the world, we must recognise that this is often beyond the limits of what we can do. But this knowledge motivates us even more to focus on the contributions we can actually make and the ways we can shape, change and influence the world for the good of humanity and our planet … together with you.
In this sense, we look forward to renewed collaborations and continued togetherness in 2024, and we would like to thank you for all the rewarding and enriching encounters we have enjoyed in 2023.
Happy Christmas and all the best for the coming year!
Christmas card image
This year, we wanted a unique image for our Christmas card. So we asked our colleagues to send in their favourite winter images, self-made of course. The image you see is a drone photograph of the March-Hugstetten biotope near Freiburg in Germany from Johann Gretschichin.
The image created by our colleague Sylvia Recsey-Kaplan form Austria came in 2nd place and Beate Hub's photo titled "Black Forest" came 3rd:
